Thanks for sharing! What I expect is probably happening is that you're actually pulling energy from the earth and channeling that to a specific purpose. Which is basically how energy manipulation works. You either pull it from yourself or collect it from other places. Expelling that mount of energy/magic is indeed going to leave you feeling drained. I might suggest that you ground before and after using it to try and offset that somewhat.
To ground, what you need to do is first realize that you're actually drawing energy from the ground, not yourself. There is a lot of magic in the Earth if you know how to access that, and it's important to differentiate your own energy from it.
Before you start pulling it up to heal (or whatever purpose), you need to send some of your own magic into the ground to basically steady yourself. Think of it like anchor lines for a tent. Then draw the magic/energy from the earth, and do your thing. Then, when you're done, you need to consciously send any leftovers back to the earth and pull your own cleansed energy back into yourself. This should help with the fatigue somewhat and make your more conscious of what you're doing which can make for a stronger effect.
Also, as a note, if it hurts you need to stop for the day. Being tired or feeling drained is normal, but energy shouldn't ever physically hurt you; that means you're doing something you're not ready for or that you're pushing yourself too hard. I don't have any warnings or idea about what happens if you don't stop, but I promise it wouldn't be a good thing. You might actually damage yourself and harm your ability to use energy or magic or whatever you want to call it.
I hope that helps.
Edit: If you wondering why you feel it from your legs, that's probably because it builds as it moves up and you just don't notice it until that point. I know when I do this, I feel a sort of... well, pulsing is the best word... going from my feet up to my stomach, and from there it washes up to my hands, which is where I channel outwards from. It feels a little different to everyone.
